Scholar of mythology Joseph Campbell writes, “The first function of a mythology is to waken and maintain in the individual a
sense of wonder and participation in the mystery of this finally inscrutable universe.” As Christmas approaches, the sermon
will explore this “first function of mythology” through songwriter/singer Peter Mayer’s striking song “Holy Now.”
